GenieAI Raises $17.8 Million to build Agentic Legal AI

GenieAI raised $17.8 million (£13.3 million) in Series A funding, led by GV (Google Ventures) and joined by Khosla Ventures (early investors in OpenAI). This round brings GenieAI's total funding to over $20 million (£15 million), building on previous government grants and seed funding led by Connect Ventures. The capital goes toward GenieAI's agentic legal AI for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.

We're thrilled to share this news with our GenieAI community. Below is what the raise covers, who's behind it, and what it means for how you get contracts done.

Our Vision for the Future

My co-founder Nitish and I created Genie with a clear goal: to reduce legal friction and enhance global economic efficiency. We understand that contracts are the backbone of business transactions, and we're here to make that process smoother than ever.

The goal for commercial teams remains the same. Control legal risk under time and cost pressure. Genie helps these teams turn around documents faster than ever, a result of 8 years developing generative AI (starting from my MSc Machine Learning thesis in Generative AI 8 years ago) and a fully docx-compatible legal document editor. Our Agentic AI can complete entire workflows when creating, reviewing and negotiating documents, not just generating text. You can see the range in our contract template library, from NDAs to service agreements.

  2. We'll be expanding our growing customer base in the USA and internationally making GenieAI the global legal drafting platform.
  3. We'll be researching the next phase of AI powered applications, because it doesn't end with today's generative AI.
