Environmental Information Regulations RFI Receipt Confirmation

This legal template refers to a receipt confirmation document related to the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) Request for Information (RFI) under UK law. The Environmental Information Regulations are laws that provide individuals with the right to access environmental information held by public authorities, including government bodies, agencies, local authorities, and others.

When an individual submits an RFI under the EIR, they typically request specific environmental information held by a particular public authority. This legal template serves as confirmation of the receipt of such an RFI by the relevant public authority. It acknowledges that the RFI has been received and provides important details such as the date and time of receipt, the reference number assigned to the request, and contact information for the authority's designated point of contact.

By utilizing this template, both the requester and the public authority have an official confirmation of the RFI's receipt, establishing a record of the inquiry and ensuring the authority's compliance with its obligations under the EIR.

Acknowledge receipt of request

If an individual makes a request for information from a public body under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), the public body must confirm or deny whether it holds the information within 20 working days of receiving the request. If the public body does hold the information, it must provide the information within a further 20 working days, unless an exemption applies. An acknowledgement of receipt request simply confirms that the public body has received the request and is dealing with it.
