The employee must fill out a form to notify their employer of their intention to take adoption leave when they have been matched with a child by an adoption agency, as required by regulations 16 and 17 of the Paternity and Adoption Leave Regulations 2002 (SI 2002/2788).
Adoption leave is a type of leave that employees can take if they adopt a child. The leave can be taken before or after the child is placed with the employee, and can be for up to 52 weeks.
